It’s a serious question. You see, it seems in Australia, most of us do thank the bus driver when we hop off the bus. An article in the Guardian a few years ago described it as the ultimate character test but noted that not all countries or cultures do.
To test the theory (and to meet the terms of an assessment in my recent radio and podcasting course…), I went out into the streets of cosmopolitan Newtown in inner Sydney and asked the question: do you thank the bus driver?
